You Are My Sunshine

I was asked on a question on a social networking site, one that actually got me to type out more than a one sentence answer. I felt sharing.

Share the story of something that makes you smile
My cat, Sirius! My whole life I always wanted a cat, I can’t remember a time when I didn’t. We had a dog the first few years of my life, which I loved but I don’t really remember much of that. When my sister and I moved with Mama into my now step-father’s house he had a dog and a cat. I was so excited to have a cat in my life, but it wasn’t my cat, this was a new cat that didn’t care too much for a new stranger in it’s life. The next year we had to get Sheeba put down, which was really had for everybody especially my step-dad. After that he said he’d never get another cat. My dreams of my own pet seemed to be crushed. In 2007 my Gramma became quite sick and there wasn’t anything that could be done to help it. The day I last saw her, we went to visit her in the hospital. Before hand I went to see some new born kittens that a friend of the family’s cat had had. I fell in love with one of the two black kittens. The little male black kitten, even though he was barely two weeks he seemed to be one the strongest of the litter, and had a lot of personality. About a month later the family started looking for homes for the kittens, around the same time I was going through the hardest thing I’ve ever had to deal with, losing Gramma. My mom had noticed how hard I had been taking this, and she knew I had fallen in love with this cat. She asked my step-dad about it, but he was against it. Mama knew it was because he didn’t want to replace Sheeba, but this wasn’t that. (Dave now loves Sirius more than anything) We went against his wishes and we brought Sirius into the house. We bought the food, litter box, litter, everything we needed and kept it out of sight in my room until the day of Sirius’ arrival. The day he was brought to my house I remember coming home from school, my mom told me she wanted to talk to me upstairs. I had this strange feeling, like she was going to tell me somebody died. Then she told me somebody was waiting for me in my room. I didn’t understand, but I opened my bedroom door and walked into my room to seem this tiny little black ball of fluff. I fell in love with him instantly. He bought so much happiness into my life when I had sort of lost hope. Although he’s far from the size he was when he first came into my life I love him more than anything and it’s so hard to imagine a time without him.

Things I Love Thursday

I love all things Hello Kitty, and even though I'm not quite sure where I would wear such a necklace I can't help but dream about it!

If you've been checking in with any of my past installments of TILT then it's no secret that I love the idea of terrariums. I love this necklace pendant, it seems so whimsical like it's been pulled straight from a fairytale.

As if the pendant was neat enough, check out these mini marimo earrings! I imagine I'd feel like some kind of woodland fairy with these hanging from my ears.

Flower headbands are so beautiful, they add color and life to any outfit and I just love them! I've been considering attempting a DIY version after seeing results sent in from Rookie readers from their own flower headband/crown tutorial.

This Vanity print by inapaleplace!

It wouldn't be hard to find motivation for positive thinking with this "Today will be awesome" 8x10 print!

I love broaches, and I love cute things so this crocheted bear broach is right up my ally!

This purse is reconstructed from a dress. I love upcycled things, especially when they are this cute!

I seem to be lacking in the earring department. I sure could use some simple yet unique ones like these!

Unlike the other Hello Kitty necklace I'd be able to work this one into my every day wardrobe more easily!

A few months ago I bought a cute purse with cats on it, but sadly it's not as practical for every day like this messenger bag.

I know I'm not alone when I say that Bumble is one of my favorite Christmas movie characters. This would be such a great necklace to have around the holidays!

Another great necklace to add to my dream list to end off this week's installment of Things I Love Thursday!

What are you loving this week?

My Body's A Zombie For You!

I inspired myself with my favorite pictures of Lady Gaga post to make a Ryan Gosling post. Now it would be impossible to make a post of my favorite Ryan Gosling pictures because well, every picture of him is perfection. I do however have a collection of fourteen pictures to share to continue to brighten up your holidays, enjoy!

Friday Findings

I had bookmarked pages to use for Things I Love Thursday but Thursday came and went without me remembering. Fret not my readers, for I bring to your Friday Findings! Enjoy :)

Do you have a favorite word? I love the word "Believe", I even have it tattooed on one of my arms. This sign is lovely, it's cute, it's homey and it's in festive colors.

I love cats, I love pillows and I love flowers and floral print so the moment I saw this cat pillow I was in love! It would look perfect on any couch, or bed, or anywhere!

I love, love, love this festive garland! I saw a little how-to over on Rookie on making pom-pom garland and I think my bedroom needs some!

In my opinion I always enjoy my hot drink, whether it be hot chocolate or some flavor of herbal tea, that I always enjoy my drink more if it's in a visually pleasing cup. I think this vintage cup and saucer set is just that.

After the holidays are over, and after I go through the struggle of finding a new job again I'm hoping to order a few prints off of Etsy to frame and hang up on my bedroom walls. This print by theblackapple is one of the ones I want most.

Lately I love broaches! They are a great way to add a little extra somethin' somethin' to your outfit! I recently bought a nice ballerina broach, but I'd love something as eye-catching as this Jayne Mansfield broach!

There's no secret at all that I love cats. I also think that you can never own too much cat decor! this folk art cat doll is great, and I know you all want it in your homes as much as I do.

As I mentioned earlier in this post, I've been eying some prints that I wish I could order. This one is really high on my wish list, and it's less than $10! What can I say, I love teeth and this would make a great addition to my bedroom wall.

Behind Blue Eyes

I'll  always have the problem with trying to sort all the thoughts in my  head into words that flow nicely together.

This week has been filled with lots of fun and laughter, I think I'm definitely in the holiday spirit this year. Although I'm pretty nervous about this being my first Christmas morning since my older sister has moved out. Who is going to wake me up Christmas morning? I'm afraid I might cry Christmas morning! Today I did have a lovely visit with her and her family though. It's so nice to see her so happy, she deserves it so much.

Also for no reason at all you're being graced with a slight photo spam of some self portraits from yours truly, 'tis the season, right?
